10 Best Female Vampires In Horror Movies

1. Queen Akasha - Queen Of The Damned

The term vampire queen has cropped up before on this list, but no blood-sucker captures it better than this iconic empress.

Queen of the Damned is, well, not a great movie. It's a campy flick full of shallow eye-candy, poor VFX and lousy storytelling. As a sequel to (or at least an adaptation of a later book in the same novel series) Interview with a Vampire, it's safe to say people expected better. Still, there was one stand out, and that was the electrifying Queen Akasha.

Akasha was an ancient Egyptian queen before becoming the first ever vampire and, thus, the progenitor of all vamps. In this film, she was awoken by Lestat's (Stuart Townsend) music and decided to make him her king.

There's so much to love with this character, as her dramatic entrances, breathtaking wardrobe, and magnetic energy were enough to turn her into an icon - despite the poor movie that carried her.

The character was brought to life by the R&B singer Aaliyah in what would be her last role before her untimely death. She gave her everything to the part, bringing elegance, seduction, ruthlessness and extravagance to the forefront of her performance.
