10 Best Fifth Movies In Franchises

There's no denying that Wes Craven made the Scream movies what they are.

One of the masters of horror, Craven's first film starring Ghostface was monumental for its subversion of horror tropes, several of which the man himself helped to create. Then came Scream 2, a pastiche of horror movie sequels, with equally brilliant results.

The series sort of got lost in the wilderness after that, but came roaring back into life with the 2022 movie called... Scream.

Well, that's not confusing at all.

This was the first of the franchise to be released following Craven's death in 2015, so there was a lot of speculation surrounding it. Thankfully, the spirit of Wes was clearly watching over this production, as they knocked it out of the park.

Scream (2022) got the series back to its slasher roots, introducing a new Ghostface to hunt down a group of old and new friends alike. It continued to satirise too, highlighting some of the less desirable traits of modern horror hounds.

There was a massive risk that a non-West Craven Scream movie would flop, but this film did not disappoint, even with its unhelpful title.
