Winter Soldier immediately became the best MCU movie at its time of release, and this scene was the most talked about by far.

As Captain America learns of the deep-rooted Hydra infiltration of Shield, he realises he can't trust anyone. So when he steps into an elevator with a dozen "Shield" agents, the tension is palpable. After some fake pleasantries between Cap and the goons, a brawl breaks out that is one of the most unique we've ever seen in a superhero movie. Normally these fights take place in open spaces where the characters can get knocked down, regroup, and go back at it with lots of flashy, spin kicks.

The elevator scene however is claustrophobic, which makes us wonder how Cap could possible come out on the winning side. Well, the Russo Brothers used the scene as a fantastic showcase of Captain America's abilities as he uses his close-quarter combat skills to take out each goon in a cool way, often one-handed no less.

He punches, elbows, and kicks his way through them before literally throwing the leader up and into the roof of the elevator. Then flips his shield from the ground up and onto his arm again. This scene went a long way in legitimising Cap.
