10 Best Fight Scenes In The Matrix Franchise
8. Enter Trinity - The Matrix Reloaded
In the build-up to The Matrix Reloaded's third act, Neo's premonitions of a dying Trinity lead Neo to reluctantly ask Trinity to stay out of the Matrix while he and Morpheus take The Keymaker to The Source - don't ask, it's elaborate and mind-bending enough just writing it down.
When one of the supporting resistance crews dies in the real world during a Sentinel attack, Trinity disregards Neo's plea and jacks herself into the fight to finish what the fallen crew started. While completing her part of the mission, Trinity is set upon by an Agent and thus the film goes full circle back to the beginning.
The scene literally starts with a sucker-punch but thankfully Trinity recovers enough in a split second to remind us why she sits at the big table on the Nebuchadnezzar. Even though she and Morpheus blew audiences away earlier on during the freeway chase sequence, there's something familiar and almost nostalgic about watching the leather-clad Carrie Ann Moss crane-kick her way through the Matrix.
The fight scene itself is over a little too early for my taste, and while it does culminate in both her and the Agent drawing their guns on each other and returning to the start of the movie - I think we can appreciate this perspective that gives context towards the earlier scenes.
