10 Best Film Remakes Of All Time

1. The Thing (1982)

Dawn Of The Dead 2004
Universal Pictures

Now known as one of the greatest horror films of all time, The Thing was actually hated on its release in 1982. Speculated to be due to releasing at the same time as E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, the original film was also well-loved. Taking a more subtle, creeping horror tone, the original stood out even against other sci-fi films of its year, like the iconic and influential The Day The Earth Stood Still.

But after years of bad press, people revisited John Carpenter’s remake and started to see it for the deep and horrifying movie it is.

Drawing on H.P. Lovecraft’s themes of cosmic horror and some of the most gruesome special effects ever filmed, The Thing is terrifying in ways that few other horror movies have ever been.
