Nowadays, Zack Snyder doesn't have the best reputation. Being responsible for Sucker Punch, Batman v Superman and Justice League while producing 300: Rise of an Empire and Suicide Squad is sure to hurt anybody's careers, but there was a time when Snyder seemed to know what he was doing.

He directed the original 300, one of the most stylish films of all time, and pleased comic book fans with Watchmen, but his feature film debut was with a remake of 1978's legendary zombie film Dawn of the Dead.

In collaboration with Guardians of the Galaxy writer James Gunn, Dawn of the Dead was considered a 're-imagining' of the original film, taking a similar setting and characters but instead making the zombies even more terrifying. In the original, the zombies lumbered and lurched like the zombies we all know and love, but in this remake, they sprint.

Even the director of the original, George A. Romero, complimented the film, and compared it to a video game - indeed, Left 4 Dead bears many marks of inspiration from this great remake.
