10 Best Final Lines From MCU Characters
7. "I'm Damn Lucky You're My Boy" - Yondu Udonta
The Line
"He may have been your father, boy, but he wasn't your daddy. I'm sorry I didn't do none of it right. I'm damn lucky you're my boy."
Why It's Awesome
Yondu's (Michael Rooker) sacrificial death at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - giving his flight suit to Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) to protect him from the vacuum of space - remains one of the MCU's most affecting moments.
It's a death that services the movie's primary theme of fatherhood perfectly, accented by a devastating final declaration from Yondu where he both condemns Peter's biological father Ego (Kurt Russell) and insists he's honoured to have been Peter's "daddy."
Yondu sure was far from perfect, but he redeemed himself in the most ultimate way when it mattered most, laying down his life to protect the boy he raised. As final lines go, it completed Yondu's redemption arc while cementing him as an all-timer MCU character.
