10 Best Final Lines From MCU Characters
6. "Look At Me, Stretching One Moment Out Into A Thousand..." - The Ancient One
The Line
"No one ever is [ready]. We don't get to choose our time. Death is what gives life meaning. To know your days are numbered, your time is short. You'd think after all this time I'd be ready. But look at me, stretching one moment out into a thousand, just so I can watch the snow."
Why It's Awesome
Beyond the controversies surrounding the Ancient One's (Tilda Swinton) portrayal in Doctor Strange, the character certainly got one of the more poetic and evocative death scenes in the MCU to date.
After being mortally wounded by the villainous Kaecilius (Mads Mikkelsen), the Ancient One confesses that despite being roughly 500 years old and having known full well that her time would soon be up, she's still anxious about what comes next.
To see a mystical being facing the void with dignified ambivalence is totally fascinating, confirming that no matter how long someone might live, the finality of death hits hard all the same.
