10 Best Hidden Gem Halloween Horror Movies

9. The Midnight Hour

Tales of Halloween
ABC

A 1985 TV movie, The Midnight Hour ticks off a whole bunch of familiar horror elements. There's vampires, there's witches, there's zombies, there's outright demons - all running amok in the fictional Massachusetts town of Pitchford Cove.

How come poor Pitchford Cove finds itself in the midst of this chaos? Well, that's down to a group of high schoolers who unwittingly disturb an ancient curse that's now, in part, caused the town's dead to rise. Of course, given how this takes place on Halloween night, those eerie undead souls don't look all that out of place amongst the various costumes being worn by trick-or-treaters and partygoers. As such, it takes a little while for the locals to realise what's actually going on.

Given how it's a made-for-TV production, there's obviously not a whole bunch of bloody brutality involved here, but there's a fun few faces to keep an eye out for, such as Star Trek: The Next Generation's LaVar Burton, infamous RoboCop villain Kurtwood Smith, House III's Dedee Pfeiffer, and a blink-and-you'll-miss-it first ever acting appearance from a certain Macauley Culkin.
