8. What We Do In The Shadows

This American television adaptation of Taika Waititi's What We do in the Shadows wasted little time in carving its own path, keeping the spirit of the movie alive while doing its own thing. Like the movie, this mockumentary follows a group of immortal vampire housemates as they go about their daily lives in suburbia. Hijinks ensue.

Matt Berry and Natasia Demetrioiu steal the show as lovers Nadja and Laslow, with Kayvan Novak filling in the Waititi role as Nandor the Relentless. It even adds to the mythology with the introduction of Mark Proksch's emotional vampire, and the mind-blowing crossover episode in which we meet vampire councils from around the world (featuring Waititi and Jemaine Clement as their original characters) - including numerous big name celebrity cameos.

This television adaptation had a lot to live up to, given the modern classic status of its movie. Thankfully, it more than lives up to that. Now... about that Swearwolves movie we were promised?
