10 Best Horror Films With Final Guys

3. Paxton Rodriguez - Hostel

Alex Final Destination
Screen Gems

The first offering in the gruesome Hostel franchise charts the misadventures of a trio of American and Icelandic tourists, Paxton (Jay Hernandez), Josh (Dereck Richardson), and Oli (Eyþór Guðjónsson). While travelling through Europe, the group land themselves in trouble and all three are graphically tortured by an insidious and unknown organization targeting foreign backpackers.

Unlike Paxton, Oli and Josh are brutally killed by their sadistic captors: the former is decapitated; the latter is slowly murdered via drilling. However, the comparably fortunate Paxton is ultimately and unexpectedly able to survive, and the terrified tourist is actually able to kill one of his deranged would-be murderer.

Much like Alex Browning of the Final Destination series, Paxton is eventually killed in the follow-up to Eli Roth's schlocky torture-porn hit, dying in an underwhelming offscreen decapitation.

Still, Paxton is the only survivor from the original Hostel film, escaping the twisted and torturous traps and acts which claim many other victims. Paxton's bravery, resilience, and strength enables his escape, and also cements his position as one of horror's most impressive final guys.
