1. Matthew Is Seeing Premonitions Of His Own Death - Don't Look Now
Don't Look Now follows John (Donald Sutherland) and Laura Baxter (Julie Christie) as they travel to Venice for work following the accidental drowning death of their young daughter Christine (Sharon Williams).
Throughout the film, John witnesses bizarre visions, primarily of a childlike figure in a red raincoat - just like the one his daughter wore when she died - running around Venice.
He also sees Laura as part of a funeral cortege, as proves especially confusing given that Laura previously returned to their home in England to tend to their injured son. Why the hell is John seeing her in Venice?
But the mesmerising finale reveals that John has unknowingly been witnessing premonitions of his own death and funeral - in the closing sequence, he chases the raincoat-wearing figure around the palazzo, only to discover that they're a dwarf serial killer who has been terrorising Venice.
The dwarf then slashes John's throat, leaving him to die just as he realises that his own demise has been continually hinted to him leading up to this moment.
