3. Carmichael Pleading For His Life - Late Night With The Devil
In Late Night with the Devil, talk show host Jack Delroy becomes increasingly frustrated by his flagging ratings. Hoping to win back his audience, Jack interviews Lilly, a teenager who claims to be possessed by a demon called Mr. Wriggles.
To cover all sides of the story, Delroy invites professional debunker Carmichael Haig onto the episode. Having no belief whatsoever in the supernatural, Haig emphasises that he'll offer $100,000 to anyone who can prove the existence of ghosts, demons, or psychic powers.
Even though Late Night with the Devil is filled with a myriad of spine-tingling scenes, arguably the most memorable moment is also the funniest one. During the climax, Mr. Wriggles wriggles its way out of Lilly and uses its demonic abilities to kill June, the parapsychologist helping Lilly. As Wriggles turns its attention to Carmichael, he's lost for words, realising he was wrong to dismiss the paranormal.
In a last-ditch effort to save his life, Carmichael whips out the $100,000 check, pathetically offering it to the devilish fiend. Unimpressed, Wriggles incinerates the skeptic, reducing him to ash.
Carmichael may have been an arrogant know-it-all, but at least he acknowledged he was wrong before meeting his maker.
