If you're already frightened of insects, then 2006's Bug is not the movie for you.

Agnes (Ashley Judd) is a lonely woman recovering from the disappearance of her young son. She meets Peter (Michael Shannon), who seems nice at first but, like all men, turns out to be a raving lunatic obsessed with invisible insects.

It turns out that Peter is an escaped mental patient who falsely believes that his body is infested with parasitic creatures. Agnes is eventually drawn into the conspiracy herself, setting off a chain of events with dire consequences.

We thought about putting Agnes on this list as she's the main character of Bug. However, she didn't really do anything wrong. Yes, she shot someone with a nail gun, but that someone was her abusive ex-husband who was trying attack her.

As for Peter, he goes full-on mad. When confronted by his former psychiatrist Dr. Sweet, Peter viciously kills him with a knife, claiming that he's in on the scheme too.

Up to this moment, Peter was unhinged but hadn't actually hurt anybody yet. His killing of Dr. Sweet tipped him over the edge and into the realm of downright dangerous.
