10 Best Horror Movie Scenes Where Good Characters Turned Evil
8. Sweeney Todd - Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street
Just because it has singing, doesn't mean it's not a horror.
Listen to any Coldplay album - they've got singing and they're terrifying.
Tim Burton's reinvention of Sweeney Todd hit screens in 2007 with who else but Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter in the lead roles. Depp plays the titular Mr. Todd, whose real name is Benjamin Barker, but that wasn't nearly spooky enough.
Todd returns to London after spending fifteen years in exile. He returns to find that the man who falsely convicted him caused the death of his wife and has his daughter imprisoned. In a fairly justified move, Todd vows revenge.
Though motivated by fairly honourable intentions, the barber's methods are less pristine. He fully steps over the dark side when he incapacitates his former assistant and murders him before he could reveal his true identity.
This is the flap of the butterfly's wing that sets Sweeney off on a full-blown rampage. He slits the throats of countless unexpecting customers, who is already bad enough, but did you really have to send their bodies to be made into pies?
Seriously, some people just take everything too far!
