10 Best Horror Movie Scream Queens

7. Sarah Michelle Gellar

Now, any readers born before the year 2000 most likely already know why Buffy the Vampire Slayer herself is listed on here.

But outside of her outsized contribution to television horror as the snarky, resilient heroine of the iconic cult hit, it’s worth remembering that far from resting on her laurels, Scooby Doo star Sarah Michelle Gellar cemented her place in horror history via movie stardom too.

And no, not just by playing the role of former damsel in distress turned action heroine Daphne to perfection, though props are due to her for that too.

It's Gellar's roles in classic nineties slashers I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream 2, not to mention playing the heroine of 2004’s surprisingly solid J-horror redo The Grudge, that cement her place in screen history as an iconic scream queen. After all, her (spoilers) harrowing deaths in the first two flicks mentioned there made it clear that if Buffy herself couldn't make it out alive, no one was safe.
