Resilient, clever and extremely tough, Selena initially appears a bit too hard as she battles her way through London and its countryside. After hacking up one of her traveling companions before he could turn into a raging zombie, Selena explains to Jim (who ultimately becomes her love interest) that she has no qualms about killing anyone who will turn, friend or foe. Later, however, we witness Selena soften as she interacts with Jim and two other zombie apocalypse survivors Frank and his daughter Hannah. Even though Jim comes to her aid, saving her from the depraved, rapey British soldiers who lured them to their fortress, Selena still ends up a heroine when the film closes. In the version released in American theaters, Selena, Jim, and Hannah are rescued after Selena performs life-saving surgery on Jim; however, in the three alternate endings, Jim dies and Selena and Hannah are the sole survivors.
