10 Best Horror Movies Of 2014 Ranked

8. Creep

Creep, written and directed by first-time feature film director Patrick Brice, has been dubbed a 'comedy horror'. While you'll certainly laugh out loud at some points during this incredibly well-executed and suspenseful found-footage horror, you're never laughing for long. Summarising this movie risks giving away far too much of the good stuff, but suffice it to say that Creep focuses on a relationship we can all relate to. It's a casual working relationship - that of filmmaker and subject - that gets slightly uncomfortable when one party takes it too far. We all know that icky, sinking feeling we get when someone crosses boundaries almost imperceptibly; Creep plays on exactly such a feeling, taking it to its most extreme denouement. Creep gets under your skin in a way that no other movie this year has managed to, and Mark Duplass' commendable interpretation of the titular character is clever, manipulative and eventually spine chilling. This one had its first outing in March of this year at SXSW to general critical acclaim.
