10 Best Horror Movies Of 2019 (So Far)

1. Us

Us Lupita Nyong O
Universal

When the first trailers for Jordan Peele's Us were revealed, it appeared that he was making a straight home invasion/body-snatcher chiller that would play on the fundamental anxiety that there's no more horrific a transformation we can witness than or own. It's the same fear that inspired the creation of Mr Hyde and every werewolf story and it was fertile enough ground for Peele to explore.

Naturally, the Get Out director had way more creative ideas than anything you could ever call "simple" and has similar political wounds to explore as Get Out, though Peele is keen for his audience to come to the conversation themselves.

Whether it's as successful as Get Out remains to be seen, but it's a hugely impressive sophomore effort and is both frightening and intriguing enough to elicit multiple watches.
