10 Best Horror Movies Set In Space

7. It! The Terror From Beyond Space

High Life
United Artists

Sadly not a movie about killer clowns on a rocket ship, It! The Terror From Beyond Space is the oldest film on this list, first premiering in 1958.

A campy horror in the style of the '50s Dracula and Frankenstein movies, It! details the mission of a team of astronauts attempting to find out what happened to the crew of a voyage to Mars.

Here's a spoiler - the monster on the poster probably had something to do with it.

1958 was the perfect time for space-related movies. Things were hotting up in the space race and Yuri Gagarin was just three years away from becoming the first person to complete an orbit of the Earth.

It may have been made with a contemporary audience in mind, but It! still holds up today. It's got all the hallmarks of a classic creature feature, right down to the seemingly unstoppable main villain that steals the show from its human counterparts.

A great watch if you're in the mood for some light-hearted horror-tinged fun, It! The Terror From Beyond Space is an oldie, but a goldie.
