10 Best Horror Movies To Stream This Halloween

9. Elvira: Mistress Of The Dark (Shudder)

Train To Busan
New World Pictures

Elvira has carved a name out for herself in the annals of spooky film history, working as a TV host on late night television to introduce movies in her role as Mistress of the Dark. Cassandra Peterson's work in crafting the persona is the stuff of legend now, making for everything from books, to calendars, to video games, to even Simpson's appearances as the infamous Booberella in the years since.

Elvira took on her self-titled cinematic debut back in 1988, bringing the larger than life character to the big screen for some hi-jinks in conservative Massachusetts as the noted goth and risque dresser attempts to drum up money for a brand new and sparkly Vegas act.

Whilst not outright scary, there's two big reasons Elvira: Mistress of the Dark is a worthy Halloween watch. One being her razor sharp wit, and the other being that the film is the embodiment of big campy fun - providing a lighter watch if all the heavy hitter horror movies become a bit too much.

Titles relating to old school hosts & family horror fun: The Addams Family, The Gate, Joe Bob Briggs' Halloween Hootenanny.
