10 Best Horror Movies With A Supernatural Twist Ending
7. The Midnight Meat Train
This is a movie that has you pretty convinced you know what's up. A serial killer on the loose, an everyman who accidentally stumbles across him, ineffective police officers, underground reptilian monsters - wait, what was that last one?
Most of The Midnight Meat Train is presented like a David Fincher-esque crime thriller, with Bradley Cooper's Leon, a professional photographer, accidentally stumbling across a horrifying mystery.
He follows a suspicious butcher named Mahogany (played by Vinnie Jones), who he suspects of murdering people on the subway at night. This investigation, however, has one hell of a reveal, as Leon discovers his suspicions are correct, but the motive is a complete u-turn from the gritty and grounded tone.
In the end, it turns out Mahogany was butchering these people and transporting them to an abandoned station full of ancient lizard-like creatures that devour the bodies. He does this, alongside the train's conductor, to satisfy the creatures enough that they leave regular passengers alone during the day.
Not enough of a twist for you? Well, Leon then kills Mahogany and is forced to become the new killer. Once you realise this movie is based on a short story from Clive Barker, the creator of Hellraiser, the supernatural twist makes a bit more sense.
