2. Susan McCallister - Deep Blue Sea

One could say that it's a nice slice of karma for you to get devoured by a genetically enhanced shark if you're the person responsible for enhancing said shark...

That was the case for Dr. Susan McCallister in Renny Harlin's Deep Blue Sea, with Doc Mac carrying out some underhand altering of mako sharks as part of her quest to combat Alzheimer's disease. While the cause is clearly an extremely noble one, the practice isn't exactly ethical, particularly as McCallister went against protocol to enlarge these sharks' brains. As a direct result of that, these makos are far smarter than your average bear, and they've got a taste for human flesh!

By the time of the film's finale, the only survivors are Dr. McCallister, shark wrangler Carter, and the research facility's chef Preacher, with the facility itself flooded and sinking into the ocean. As the one remaining mako looks to make its break for freedom, Susan stops the shark by offering herself as bait - slicing her hand open, jumping in the water, and planning to climb out of that water once the shark appears.

Susan's plan works brilliantly... until it doesn't, with her escape stopped by a loose climbing rung. It's then that McCallister knows she's about to become shark chow.
