10 Best 'I’m Dead And I Know It’ Moments In Monster Movies

3. Lee Abbott - A Quiet Place

Lizzy Caplan Cloverfield
Paramount

Likely the most emotional, hard-hitting moment on this list, A Quiet Place's Lee Abbott went out in spectacular fashion, fully aware of what fate awaited him as he gave up his own life to save his family.

Of course, the overarching premise of the Quite Place movies is that the action takes place in a post-apocalyptic landscape where blind aliens with extremely sensitive hearing run rampant. So strong is the hearing of these creatures, it means the remnants of mankind have to remain silent at all times, for even the slightest noise will get the attention of these beasts.

To hammer home just how brutal and quickly these aliens can strike, young Beau Abbott is shockingly, swiftly killed in the opening act, which immediately makes the audience aware of how severe the stakes are.

So, by the time wounded family patriarch Lee realises his two other children may well be devoured during the film's final act, he takes a moment to show his love for his family through sign language before letting out a heartfelt, gut-wrenching scream that draws an alien's attention and allows his kiddos to make their escape.
