10 Best Killer Doll Movies

8) Dolly Dearest (1992)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjxeTtNu4fc A moronic third-rate Child's Play rip off, I caught this one on the Horror Film Channel before their output got decent and it enriched my life oh so very much. I honestly think they would be ashamed to show a movie of this tawdry caliber nowadays. Elliot Wade - an American - becomes the owner of the Dolly Dearest factory in Mexico. Nearby, an archaeologist releases demons in his excavation that set up shop in the factory. Oh how convenient. Elliot's 7 year old daughter Jessica takes a possessed dolly to be her own and imaginatively calls it 'Dolly'. Her behaviour changes and she turns into a right little weirdo. Someone calls a priest to bless the house and Dolly shows her true self to the family. The son shoots the doll and the men in the film blow up the doll factory but surprise surprise, at the end of the film, it is implied that one of them varmint dollies is alive. If you are watching this film to see manic dolls running round killing people with hammers a la Child's Play, you will be sorely disappointed. The film takes ages...*yawn*...to get started and when it does, it is about as exciting as a jar of olives. There are few scares to be had and precious little blood is spilled. The film cannot sustain any sort of creepy atmosphere which is partially due to the crappy cinematography. If you have a dumb film, at least try to put some pizzazz into it to sustain the viewer's interest. Idiotic 90's dolly-based cheese.

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
