So, did the top fall or not? And, in the end, does it make a difference?

When the Dark Knight hit theatres, Christopher Nolan was solidified as one of the finest filmmakers of his generation. With an excellent back catalogue and the greatest Batman film (sorry not sorry) under his belt, everyone was itching to discover what was up next.

The announcement of his partnering up with DiCaprio was an interesting one and naturally people began to wonder if he would in some way be adding him to a comic-related repertoire. However, Inception blew all preconceptions away.

Imaginative. Innovative. Evocative. This film is easily in the top percentage of films released since the year 2000. DiCaprio nails it as leading man Dom. He is both commanding and easily sympathetic in the struggle to just get home, although that doesn't come without one or two leaps in logic.

While visually the film is a triumph, not to mention Hans Zimmer's score, it is the acting that is the true drive. Dom's journey is a success because we want him to succeed. We want him to win the day and reunite with his family. And, considering we only see him with his children in the last seconds of the film, the fact that DiCaprio manages to engender that feeling is one of the film's main strengths.

It really can't be overstated how good of a film this is, thoroughly enjoyable and worth repeated viewings. In terms of performances, for DiCaprio, it is second only to -
