10 Best Live-Action Batman Characters (Who Aren't The Dark Knight)
9. Scarecrow - The Dark Knight Trilogy (2005-2012)
Arguably underutilized, Cillian Murphys take on the classic Batman villain is still incredibly enjoyable despite being a second-string villain in the first film of Nolan's trilogy. Jonathan Crane manages to both ooze creepiness without keeping the audience from wanting to see more of him and those eerily piercing eyes. Murphy makes the most of what precious little he is given to do, which is underscored especially by his crowd-pleasing and scene-stealing moments in the sequels. Considering how extreme the character can get in other media, it's hard not to imagine what more the character could've brought to the table given the chance to actively do more, but what audiences are given still proves satisfying due to the strength of Murphy's performance. In the context of the first film, he fulfilled his role perfectly, with the actor providing audiences with a a highly memorable cinematic introduction to the character, the sole downside of which being that Crane ends up as nothing more than a punch-line near the end of the film.
