10 Best Live-Action Batman Characters (Who Aren't The Dark Knight)

8. Bane - The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

Up until the big twist in The Dark Knight Rises, Bane was a character unlike any Batman had come to face in Nolan's trilogy. With the drive of Ra€™s al Ghul, a seeming unpredictability akin to the Joker and the ability to physically go head-to-head with Batman, Bane embodied everything his nemesis could€™ve become under different circumstances as well as being Gotham€™s biggest threat. Famous mumbling aside, Tom Hardy delivered a character we had yet to see: one that truly beat the Bat. Unfortunately, everything that made Bane so fascinating to watch was undone by the end of the film, when it€™s revealed that he€™s no more than a lovesick puppy to the film€™s real villain, Talia al Ghul. Adding insult to injury, Bane is immediately dispatched through a mixed-message murder by Catwoman that goes against everything Batman stood for, denying Batman the chance to truly defeat the foe who beat him once and for all on his own merits. Although Bane is disappointingly cast aside, it€™s hard to deny that, up until the twist, he€™s one of the franchise€™s best-realized villains (and even if one doesn€™t like this more realistic, non-Venom take on the character, everyone can agree he€™s still leagues better than the Batman & Robin interpretation).
