Marvel films were not the first to include an extra scene after the credits have rolled, but over the past decade, fans have now come to expect either a teaser for upcoming projects or an amusing skit featuring some of the main cast. With the new appearance of Thanos and the impending release of Avengers: Age of Ultron next year, most viewers assumed that the after-credits scene for Guardians Of The Galaxy would develop the overarching Infinity Gauntlet plot that the studio appears to be building towards. They couldn't have been more wrong... Those who waited patiently for the credits to end were transported once again to the Collector€™s museum, which had been destroyed after the power of one of the infinity stones had been unleashed earlier in the film. Surrounded by the wreckage, we join the Collector sitting on the floor, feeling sorry for himself as he takes a sip from his drink. A dog wearing an astronaut costume named Cosmo wanders over and starts licking the Collector's face, who seems too dejected to even respond. Suddenly, a voice off camera calls out, asking "What do you let him lick you like that for?" We then turn and discover that the voice belongs to none other than Howard The Duck, an alien bird who escaped one of the broken cages during the earlier explosion. Casually, Howard then leans back and takes a sip from his own drink. Eagle-eyed viewers may have also spotted an earlier appearance from Howard, who was briefly shown in one of the cages during the team's first visit to the Collector's museum. Some fans were initially disappointed that Marvel chose to include a gag sequence rather than a teaser for upcoming projects, but there's always the possibility that Howard The Duck could play a bigger role in future films. While some movie lovers may still cringe at the memory of George Lucas's Howard The Duck movie, remember that the original source material for the character is far more satirical than the embarrassing 1980's effort. At the very least, Howard could be given more screen time in the sequel for Guardians Of The Galaxy, potentially even joining the team. You may laugh, but people doubted the viability of a talking raccoon who shoots guns and now Rocket is one of the breakout stars of the year. Anything is possible in the world of Marvel...
