10 Best Mid-Credit Movie Scenes

1. The Simpsons Movie

It's weird to think that back in the early-2000s, The Simpsons as a show had seen to have overstayed its welcome, and then in 2007, there was enough appetite still for an entire movie based on everyone's favourite TV family.

Thankfully, it became a comedy hit, as if writers of the show were saving their best gags for the big screen incarnation. Chock-full of jokes, the movie tells the tale of Homer inadvertently causing an environmental disaster which threatens the entire town of Springfield.

Of course, by the end of the movie, the plot has been resolved with some classic Simpsons bravado. As the credits roll, the camera pans back to reveal the actual Simpsons have been watching their own exploits all along in the movie theatre. Bart pipes up, desperate to leave. "A lot of people worked really hard on this film, and all they ask is for you to memorise their names!" retorts Homer.

As the family get up to leave, however, Maggie pulls out her dummy - she's about to say her first word! The rest of the tribe are on tenterhooks. "Sequel?" squeaks the tiny cherub.

It's a throwaway line that still manages to be a tender moment, considering we've grown up with this family for the last 30 years, even if they haven't. And yes, I'd totally watch a sequel.

A sucker for the MCU, Aaron Sorkin's writing, thrillers and action RPGs. Low key in love with Steve Rogers.
