10 Best Movie Characters That Never Say A Word

9. Oddjob - Goldfinger

Valhalla Rising Mads Mikkelsen
MGM

The James Bond franchise has featured a few mute or near-mute villains throughout the decades - such as Jaws (Richard Kiel), who did actually speak a single line in Moonraker - but not one as explicitly defined by their wordlessness as Auric Goldfinger's (Gert Fröbe) sharply-dressed henchman Oddjob (Harold Sakata).

Described by Goldfinger as "an admirable manservant but mute," Oddjob may not let out more than an occasional "aha!" throughout his brief-but-memorable tenure, though his actions - namely committing murder with his steel-rimmed bowler hat - speak louder than words ever could.

Actor and professional wrestler Harold Sakata's imposing screen presence instantly made him a series icon, as was clumsily imitated more recently in Spectre with Dave Bautista's underwhelming villain Mr. Hinx.

By association, we're also duty-bound to mention Oddjob's Austin Powers parody equivalent - the hilariously-monikered Random Task (Joe Son), who is similarly mute but instead uses a shoe as his weapon of choice.
