10 Best Movie Characters Who Appear In Only One Scene
1. Blake - Glengarry Glen Ross
Few actors and characters have ever made quite as much of an impression on an audience as Alec Baldwin's Blake in Glengarry Glen Ross.
As it happens, Baldwin's character doesn't actually exist in the Pulitzer Prize winning play that the movie was based on. But this just goes to show, sometimes adding new elements to existing source material can prove to be a masterstroke if handled correctly.
Blake holds court for one of the greatest monologues of '90s cinema. Spewing acid for ten minutes, Blake encompasses everything that was the high-pressure, high-end sales environment of the '80s and '90s.
When asked by Ed Harris' bewildered Dave Moss who he even is, Blake barks, "F**k you, that's my name. You know why, mister? 'Cos you drove a Hyundai to get here tonight, I drove an $80,000 BMW. That's my name."
Brass balls on show, abrasive attitude in place, lack of any semblance of respect for the room that he's addressing, Blake is the encapsulation of so much of what drives Glengarry Glen Ross - and with Baldwin's delivery of the dialogue on the table, the character still remains ridiculously popular even though it's 28 years since the movie was released.
