2. Captain Koons - Pulp Fiction

Taking a step back in time, Pulp Fiction highlights how Bruce Willis' Butch received the gold watch that he holds so dearly in the present day of Quentin Tarantino's 1994 picture.

As the young Butch sits a foot away from his TV set, Christopher Walken's Captain Koons arrives on the scene. Christopher Walken in anything is always gold, but here Walken gets to sink his teeth into an extremely memorable character, even if it was an extremely brief appearance for him in Pulp Fiction.

Captain Koons regales Butch with a tale about a gold watch. Not just any gold watch, but one that Butch's great-grandfather got during World War I and that has since been passed down through each generation of the Coolidge boys. And now, following the death of his father, the watch belongs to Butch.

Walken spends four minutes delivering a delightful story about how the watch had spent five years hidden in the ass of Butch's father, before Koons himself stored the watch in his own ass for a further two years after Butch's old man passed away from dysentery.

Pulp Fiction is rightly viewed as a true all-time classic, with a large part of that being down to the sheer number of great characters dotted through QT's 1994 film - and for a one-scene wonder, few characters have ever been as great as Christopher Walken's Captain Koons.
