The death of Mufasa in 2019's The Lion King may not be as emotive as the version seen in the original, but even if the movie was remade every ten years, it would still be able to smack us right in the feels with all the force of a speeding bullet.

Betrayed by Scar, pushed from a great height and then trampled by a herd of wildebeest, Mufasa's untimely death is affecting for so many reasons: the fact that it takes a brave, seemingly unstoppable hero and puts him in a situation that even he cannot escape; the reaction of Simba, whose gentle pawing of his father's dead face is heartbreaking to watch; and the knowledge that the despicable Scar has won.

Even though the faces of the lions aren't quite as expressive as the ones in the animated version, Mufasa's end is still a saddening, tragic downfall for one of the most powerful and admirable characters in Disney movie history.

He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
