10 Best Movie Deaths Of 2019

5. The Le Domas Family (Ready Or Not)

Ready or Not ending Samara Weaving
Fox Searchlight Pictures

Ready Or Not revolves around what is probably the worst wedding celebration in human history, with young bride Grace forced to fight to the death against her husband's family - the Le Domas clan - who have the odd tradition of hunting down and killing anyone new who joins them.

They're not just doing this for the banter, however: they believe that if Grace survives till dawn, they will all spontaneously die. Sounds ridiculous, right? And it is. The movie doesn't really hint at anything supernatural for the entirety of its runtime, with Grace and her assailants using traditional weapons and gear to fight and kill one another.

But then... the finale happens. In these final scenes, morning breaks and Grace is still breathing, so the remaining Le Domas family members start to believe that their tradition is a lie. Unfortunately for them, it isn't. One by one, they explode into a shower of fleshy chunks, painting the room in blood and leaving Grace stood there, laughing.

It's a surprising turn of events and the gore effects are incredibly well-realised, and the old-timey music playing in the background creates this twisted humorous atmosphere that is just so damn entertaining to watch.

In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too.
