10 Best Movie Marketing Campaigns Ever

9. Chronicle - Flying People

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=dcDN409ZBv4 Given that Chronicle was relatively low-budget as far as superhero movies go, one expected that their marketing campaign would mostly stick to typical posters and web-based materials, yet Fox must've felt confident that they had a minor hit on their hands - and they did - because they gave the film's marketing team permission to pull off this crazy little stunt. The team organised to have three special remote-control planes in the shape of humans be flown around the New York City skyline, and while unconvincingly passing for human up close, from a distance they looked absolutely fantastic, reflecting the imagery of the movie's posters. Not only did the subsequent video garner over 8 million hits on YouTube in a relatively short time, but the "flying people" were picked up by a multitude of TV news channels. As far as surreal marketing campaigns go, few are as brilliantly imaginative and totally bonkers as this.
