10 Best Movie Marketing Campaigns Ever

8. Inception - "Mind Heist" Game

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYjDEP-bId4 Likely inspired by the superb marketing campaign that proved so successful for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight - but we'll get to that later - his next film, Inception, adopted a similar mode, and given that the vast majority of the film's plot was kept under wraps until the film was released, it allowed Nolan's marketing team to have a lot of fun toying with the audience. While most were already fully intrigued by the small teaser trailers that had been put out as well as some interviews with scientists about the nature of dreaming, the marketing department went one step further and made a viral game called Mind Heist. The game has you running around a digitised world trying to outrun a gang of unknown assailants, to reach a target, which leads you to a vault to obtain some confidential information (which, having seen the film, we know is the "dream content"). It's a superb little game that, while hardly complex or ground-breaking, immersed us a little more in the world of the film.
