5. Chad Dies In The Future - My Old Ass
New sci-fi comedy My Old Ass revolves around Elliott (Maisy Stella), a teenage girl who goes on a drug trip and encounters a 39-year-old version of herself (Aubrey Plaza).
Older Elliott insists that she stay away from her romantic interest, Chad (Percy Hynes White), who we as the audience are led to believe is going to do something that just might explain Older Elliott's struggles with getting through life.
But the big climactic twist? Chad isn't a bad dude who mistreated or even abused Elliott, but he dies young and there's no way for him to be saved.
Older Elliott wants to spare her younger self the pain of living through that grief, and so has been doing everything in her power to steer her elsewhere.
Ultimately, though, Elliott decides to embark on a romance with Chad despite her knowledge of his untimely future death, seemingly surmising that the years of joy will be worth the tragic conclusion.
