10 Best Movie Title Drops Ever
9. Fight Club
The Line: "First rule of Fight Club is: You don't talk about fight club."
Fight Club is a film about toxic masculinity and male insecurity running amok, and the most famous line in the movie is a great encapsulation of this.
The line is more than a brilliant, crackling bit of dialogue (though make no mistake, it is certainly that as well), it embodies everything that Tyler Durden proceeds to ramble on about in his speech about true manhood and how it's been "watered down" by modern society. The first rule of Fight Club is that you don't talk about Fight Club.
Beyond simply being a warning that you don't discuss this club with your families, it's also a cementing of exclusivity. The men in that room are the only ones who deserve to be in a fight club, because everyone else is watered down by society.
And if that makes your eyes roll out of their sockets and out the door, congratulations for getting the point of the entire movie. If Edward Norton's character wasn't bats**t crazy, hearing that line would have sent up all the red flags in his head.
