Admit it, you thought we weren't going to bother having Christopher Lee's Dracula on this list. For British audiences, Hammer's version of the Dracula story has got to be the greatest, most loved version of all. That's not to say it isn't loved by audiences the world over, but Hammer's being a British institution of sorts, coupled with Lee's - still horrifying today - performance make it a fondly remembered classic of horror. The unmistakable stern voice of Lee's, the intense glare, bloodshot eyes and charming external demeanour borrowed from Legosi's Dracula all combined to cement Hammer's Dracula as one of (if not the) the most quintessential vampire films ever made. The film propelled Lee to widespread stardom and consolidated Hammer films as one of the most important horror institutions in the world. Out of all the entries on this list, Horror Of Dracula is the only film present that is genuinely scary. If you've ever wondered what kind of roles Lee had before he started playing old wizards and Sith apprentices, this is the film you need to watch. Are there any other vampires you adore that don't appear on this list that you think should? Let us know in the comments below.
