10 Best Movie Villains Of 2019
9. Pennywise - It: Chapter Two
Pennywise the Clown has been a classic on-screen villain ever since Tim Curry portrayed the character in 1990. Then 27 years later, as is the villain's style, he returned to our screens in the form of Bill Skarsgard, in a much creepier, scarier iteration than before.
Another 27 (cinematic) years later, Pennywise returned once again to terrorize and torment the now grown up Losers Club all over again. Before he even appears on the screen, Pennywise already has coulrophobia on his side. The irrational fear of clowns is something very real, and even those without the condition will still find Pennywise scary on appearance alone.
The clown however, is just one form of the monster. Transforming at will into the stuff of nightmares for the Losers Club, some even targeted at specific members and their worst fears, the creature known as It is diabolical, intelligent, and unforgiving. Everything that makes a great villain.
While many on this list of great antagonists have a real motive that can at least be understood, It doesn't. Normally this would be a down as it makes it harder for the audience to connect or empathise with them, but Bill Skarsgard's villain is not supposed to be empathised with. He is to be purely feared, and the apparent lack of any real reason for doing what he is doing is possibly the scariest aspect of all.
