7. Scar - The Lion King
When the Lion King remake was announced, naturally there was a ridiculous amount of buzz surrounding the project, and when the incredible cast was released, this doubled. Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé as Nala, and James Earl Jones returning were all met with universal excitement, but one of the standouts of the movie was Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar.
Every one in this movie, bar James Earl Jones of course, had a tough task, recreating the beloved characters from 25 years ago, and with Scar widely thought of as one of Disney's better villains, there would be scrutiny for Ejiofor's performance no matter what.
In the face of a tough challenge and the inevitable comparisons to Jeremy Irons, the Doctor Strange alum brought to life a truly despicable villain with gravitas and a surprisingly strong singing voice for 'Be Prepared'.
However, it was not just the voice that allowed Scar to appear so evil. The animation itself brought to life a lion malnourished and resentful toward the strength of his brother, battle hardened with the facial scars that lend him his name.
