10 Best Movie Villains Played By Comedians
9. Kristen Wiig - Wonder Woman 1984
It's easy to say that Wonder Woman 1984 was a bit of a let down after the terrific Wonder Woman. But that shouldn't get in the way of you enjoying the flick as a light-hearted and easy superhero adventure, or Kristen Wiig's performance as one of the film's major villains.
This SNL alumnus has given her face to many dramatic flicks before, with some particularly notable performances found in titles like 'The Skeleton Twins' and 'Mother!'. Therefore, it made sense that she would be cast as a villain in a superhero movie.
As Barbara Minerva, Wiig brought her typical awkward charm and painted her character as a down on her luck loser who just needed a break. After finding one in the form of a wish-granting stone, she becomes a dominant personality and eventually turns into the apex predator Cheetah.
Wiig's performance is fun to watch, as she captures both sides of the character perfectly. Her goofy humour at the beginning is effortlessly charming, and as the character gets more sinister, she switches gears well, acting intimidating and powerful.
The only issue with the performance is that it's not given as much time as it should have been. Despite the film's staggering run-time of 150 minutes, Cheetah isn't given the position of the primary antagonist, which is a shame as Wiig had plenty of fun in the role.
