10 Best Movie Villains Played By Comedians

7. Albert Brooks - Drive

Penguin Batman Returns
Film District

For older audiences, Albert Brooks is best known for his groundbreaking turns in movies like 'Broadcast News' and 'Lost In America'. For younger audiences he is probably best noted as Marlon in the classic animated film 'Finding Nemo'. Still, one thing he isn't known for is being a vicious and intimidating villain. But 'Drive' might have you thinking differently.

His shockingly typecast breaking part in this movie as the foul-mouthed and dangerous mobster Bernie Rose is incredible. Brooks' performance is mesmerising, as he masterfully displays power without needing to scream and shout. There's a ruthlessness to him that's terrifying to watch, especially as it's coming from such a beloved comedian.

Typically when mobsters appear in movies, they are portrayed as heartless and cold, but there's something in this villain that makes him stand out. Rose always approaches his darker moments reluctantly, seeming less like a sadistic killer and more someone who kills to get his way.

The performance was so good that it even inspired major upset after he didn't receive an Oscar nomination, something many people thought was a given. Still, he wanted to play against his typecast and certainly did that.
