10 Best Movie Villains Played By Comedians
4. Danny DeVito - Batman Returns
Danny DeVito is one of the most beloved actors in Hollywood. There is just something that's so remarkably captivating about him, and most of that comes from his superb acting skills. He's delivered some hilarious performances in projects like 'Always Sunny in Philadelphia', 'Twins' and 'Matilda', and has shone in many more.
Thanks to how loveable and charming he is, it's hard to think of a scenario in which you'd root against him, but that's the case in 'Batman Returns'. His performance as the iconic Batman villain The Penguin is so much fun, as he fully gives into the ludicrous side of the character, chewing the scenery and performing all his lines with a cartoonish sense of malice.
His performance is made even stronger thanks to the excellent costume and character design - as you'd expect from a Tim Burton project - which makes him feel far more beast than man. While many people criticised the overly goofy tone of the character and the movie, this is precisely what makes it fun to watch, as the goofier elements contrast nicely with the macabre and gothic atmosphere crafted by Burton.
He may not be the most physically intimidating, but don't get too close, or he'll bite your nose off.
