4. God Loves Uganda

God Loves Uganda Roger Ross Williams' harrowing documentary about the AIDS epidemic in Uganda is one of the most infuriating films in recent memory, depicting the mission of Kansas City€™s International House of Prayer, who attempt to indoctrinate an entire nation to the Christian way, which extends to suggesting that the citizens partake in abstinence rather than wearing condoms, which naturally has done little to curb the tide of the disease. Williams' literate film explores a multitude of the problems with exporting the cultural beliefs associated with faith from one nation to another, though smartly doesn't outright demonise the Christian faith entirely. Balancing his film with interviews with clergymen who are similarly disgusted by the mission's goals, this is a film that will appeal to humanists along any part of the religious or non-religious spectrum. Without question, an Oscar-worthy documentary of the highest caliber. Release Info: Worldwide release dates TBA.
