10 Best Movies Where The Hero And Villain Never Meet

4. Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope

True Romance
20th Century Fox/Disney

Back in 1977, George Lucas gifted the world with Star Wars, and movie fandom has never been the same since. The first film established a galaxy in conflict, separated by the dominating Empire against a Rebel resistance. Fortunately, a new hope rose with Luke Skywalker, a farm boy destined to become a Jedi.

It's clear that Luke is the hero of the story, but what isn't as clear is who his main enemy happens to be. On the one hand, it's Darth Vader, but on the other, it's Grand Moff Tarkin and the Emperor, who never showed up, preferring to leave his minions to do his bidding.

If Darth Vader is meant to the primary villain in the film, Luke did manage to see him, though they were separated by a large hangar bay. When Vader killed Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke's yell and blaster fire drew Vader's attention, but they never faced off against one another in person.

At the end of the movie, they flew against one another as Luke was attempting to blow up the Death Star, but they were interrupted by Han and Chewie in the Millenium Falcon. The only hero of the film who met both Vader and Tarkin was Princess Leia, and while she's a major player, she wasn't the main hero of the movie.
