10 Best Musical Themes From Live-Action Marvel Movies

10. Thor: The Dark World (2013)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiHPY_tK960 Thor's big sequel saw quite a number of changes between it and the original 2011 film. Kenneth Branagh had stepped away from the franchise and his replacement, Patty Jenkins, was quickly replaced by director Alan Taylor. However, one of the other big changes came in the sequel's loss of composer Patrick Doyle, whose score for the first film was well-received and whose theme many hoped would return. Just like the directorial change of hands, though, Doyle's replacement Carter Burwell would end up replaced by Brian Tyler after splitting with Marvel Studios over the usual "creative differences." Tyler, who had managed to finally give Iron Man a substantial theme in Iron Man 3, ultimately chose to forgo the work Doyle had done to create an entirely new set of musical ideas for the film. While not as elegant as Doyle's running theme for the first film, Tyler's theme for the sequel still manages to be neatly action-heavy and lines up with the new tone and scale the film took. It's a pulsing theme that pops up a number of times throughout the film that's solid enough and will hopefully carry on into and evolve over the course of any future sequel(s).
