10 Best Netflix Original Movies Of 2020 - Ranked

7. I'm Thinking Of Ending Things

The Social Dilemma
Netflix

Anyone who's familiar with writer-director Charlie Kaufman's previous film work - including Being John Malkovich, Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, and Adaptation - will know to expect the unexpected when going into his movies.

And sure enough, I'm Thinking Of Ending Things is stuffed to the gills with that signature Kaufman weirdness. Maggot-infested pigs? Check. Random ballet sequences? Check. Credits that start rolling midway through the film? Also check.

It's completely and utterly bizarre, and while this makes I'm Thinking Of Ending Things a tricky one to recommend, those who've already bought into Kaufman's style - or newcomers who find that it appeals to them - will be able to see the touching story about a troubled relationship that's lurking beneath the film's surreal veneer.

Whether you hate it or you love it (obviously, we're in the latter camp), it's one of those movies that you won't be able to stop thinking about, marrying style and substance together in a thought-provoking package that only Charlie Kaufman could create.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
