10 Best Non-Christmas Christmas Movies

2. Gremlins (1984)

Die Hard
Warner Bros.

Gremilins may have been released in June 1984, but it is all about the season of giving, which is why it easily lands on this list of non-Christmas Christmas movies.

While it involves a bunch of little monsters running around town causing all sorts of trouble, the setting for the movie is Christmastime. They even had a town Grinch in Mrs. Deagle, though she didn't learn her lesson so much as get taken out by a Gremlin who messed with her stair chair.

Midway through the movie, Phoebe Cates' Kate Beringer recounts the tale of why she hates Christmas. Her harrowing story of how her father died while trying to get down the chimney to play Santa for his family sets the tone for the movie, but it quickly jumps from genre to genre.

In one moment, it's a comedy while in another, a straight horror. Regardless of the tone, the movie Gremlins is a holiday classic many enjoy watching during the holiday season... if only to be grateful for the overall lack of monsters running through their respective towns.
